Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

DRIVER, RICHARD LAW, brother-in-law of Mr. Horace Smith, of Cabramatta, is reported killed in action in France. He was only married shortly before enlisting. Mr. Smith received a letter on Thursday from his soldier relative, regretting he could not spend his Xmas in Australia. Owing to lack of reinforcements he, with thousands of others could not even get a brief spell. Driver Law was one of the pioneers of the 1st Division who left Australia. He was in the landing at Gallippli, went right through that campaign without a scratch, and fared similarly in France until he met his death through, as he says, lack of reinforcements.
