Son of William and Rebecca Mary Campbell of 'Rocklands', Tweed Heads, NSW; brother of Sidney Frederick Campbell who returned to Australia on 19 October 1917 having served with the 9th Battalion and Henry John Campbell who returned to Australia on 14 April 1919 having served with the 49th Battalion
