Reginald Guthrie's brother, Private Charles Joseph Guthrie was killed after less than a month in France after serving in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. Reginald also did his bit in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve as a Signaller [S/N Z/7572] from September 17th, 1917 to February 8th, 1919. For service, he was given the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
During the 1939-45 War, he started out as a Corporal and then served with various Garrison Battalions and was placed on the Retired List on March 25th, 1944. He had also been to the General Infantry School, Intellegence School and Signaller School to name a few.
