Biography

Son of William BARRON and Sarah Jane nee TAYLOR

"...3759 Private William Barron, a miner of Kadina, South Australia. He enlisted in the 27th Battalion on 21 August 1915 and embarked from Adelaide on HMAT Miltiades on 7 February 1916 for Egypt. He transferred to the 50th Battalion on 2 February 1916 and embarked for Plymouth in June 1916 before joining his battalion in France on 17 July 1916. Pte Barron was admitted to hospital with pneumonia on 11 August 1916 and died the following day, aged 31 years." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
