Sidney Patrick Daly was enlisted into the Australian Army on the 6th of March 1941. He asked to be released so that he could join the Royal Australian Airforce and was refused. He served in the Army in Australia until he was eventually posted to Adelaide where they allowed him on the 19th of July 1943 to be discharged from the Army and he subsequently enlisted in the Royal Australian Airforce on the 20th July 1943 as Aircraftsman No 431383. His subsequent history is then continued under this number with the Royal Australian Air Force.
