Son of Mr and Mrs William H PHILLIPS of 14 Arlington Terrace Welland.  Married to Miss Lynda Pyne of Laverton Victoria.  Arthur was educated at Welland Public School and took a keen interest in motor cycling and car track racing, built his own plane, and took part in plane racing spending most spare time on this hobby.  In civilian life he was a printer at Frearsons and McMahon's Printery.  He enlisted in the RAAF in May 1941.
