Gas in the trenches

There is a family story that Amos suffered from the gas in the trenches during the War however there is no evidence of this in his military records. It has been passed down through the generations that he had 'weak lungs from the gas'. He was admitted for medical treatment for pneumonia in 1919. Pneumonia was tragically the cause of his death in 1927 leaving behind a wife and two small children. Amos was a soldier settler, taking up a block of land in the South Australian riverland after the war.
