Private Charles Stewart Lines (Service No:S21505) enlisted in the ACMF on 23 December 1940, and was attached to 27 Infantry Battalion and 9 Employment Coy in Darwin NT (21 December 1941 - 14 January 1943). Private Lines was attached to HQ 3 Infantry Brigade at Discharge on 17 March 1943 (Medically Unfit).
Charlie was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1920, youngest of thirteen children of George William Robert Lines (b1873 at Langhorne Creek, South Australia) and Catherine Margaret Kempster (b1877 in Angle Grove, Clare, South Australia). George (a Hawker) and Catherine married in 1894 in Kadina, South Australia. The family lived in Bute, Matta Flat via Kadina, Cowell and Adelaide, where George worked as a Labourer, Hawker, Salt Carrier and Fettler.
Charlie was working in Adelaide as a Butcher for Central Meat Service in 1940 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, he worked as a Drill Operator in Adelaide where, in 1946, he married Joan Maria Colligan (b1924 in Adelaide, South Australia). Joan died in 1975 and Charlie in 1989.
