Captain William Frederick Edgerley (Service No:S980) served in the ACMF from 24 July 1940 to 11 July 1945 with 4 Garrison Battalion (SA) and 3rd Infantry Training Battalion. Captain Edgerley served in WWI (Lieutenant; Service No:922) and with the Army Reserve following WWI.

Born in Cornwall, England in 1895, William was the edlest of three children of Reverend Albert Richard Edgerley (b1865 in Lancashire, England) and Martha Janetta Edmunds (b1861 in Lincolnshire, England). Albert (a Wesleyan Minister) and Martha (Headmistress of a Girls' School) married in 1894 in Cheshire, England. They lived in Cornwall and Yorkshire where Albert was a Wesleyan Minister before immigrating in 1913. The family arrived in Adelaide, South Australia on board the Runic and settled in Adelaide where Albert was a Methodist Minister.

William was a Farmer in 1919 when he married Vera Kelly (b1894 at Giles Corner, South Australia). William and Vera settled at Birdwood where William was a Farmer. By 1940 they had moved to Medindie in Adelaide, where he was a Manager (Tractors) when he enlisted in the ACMF. Vera died in 1978 and William in 1980.
