Biography

"..2653 Private Alfred Fitzgerald, 52nd Battalion, of Brisbane Qld; formerly of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Fitzgerald embarked on board HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He served on the Western Front. On 10 June 1917, aged 45, Pte Fitzgerald, was killed in action at Messines, Belgium." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
