FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH. LOVED FOR EVERMORE
The war has claimed yet another Tatiara boy. Last Friday evening word was received by Mr and Mrs Geo. Dyer, of Pooginagoric, that their second son, Pte Graham Dyer, of the AlF, was killed in action on March 6th.
Born in this district, educated at Pooginagoric school, Pte Dyer worked in the neighbourhood as a youth. He joined the AIF about 2 1/2years ago, and served in Northern Australia until last October, when he went with his unit into action in the Solomon Islands. He celebrated his 21st birthday on August 18 last when home on leave. Quiet and reserved, he was well liked and respected by all with whom he came into contact.
He was a member of Pooginagoric Tennis Club and played for that team in United Churches Tennis Association until its activities were interrupted by the war. His elder brother Laurie is also in the AIF.
The people of the Tatiara will join with the Minister for the Army in extending sincere sympathy to Mr and Mrs Dyer and family in their sad loss. As a mark of respect, the harvest thanksgiving services of Pooginagoric Congregational Church, which were to have been celebrated last Sunday, were postponed for a fortnight.
