Military Medal
'During an enemy attack on the Railway Arch at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April 1918, he worked unceasingly to keep his Mortar supplied with ammunition throughout the attack. When the Mortar had been destroyed to prevent it falling into enemy hands and the crew as ordered to withdraw to the line in rear, he assisted his N.C.O., who was wounded, to a place of safety under heavy Machine Gun fire. Later, he carried a message through heavy shell fire to Battery Headquarters.'
