Deniliquin Independent 20 September 1918.
On Tuesday an official intimation was received to the effect that Private Thomas William Turnbull bad been killed in action in France on September 1. The deceased, who was 33 years of age, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Turnbull, and will be remembered as a quiet, industrious fellow, whose principal occupation was in connection with roadwork for the municipal and shire councils. He was with the 24th battalion, and bad been in the A.I.F. about two years, having enlisted in October, 1916. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved relatives, whose loss is doubly hard, for a younger son made the great sacrifice, about a year ago after long service in Gallipoli and France.
