Sapper Bevin Lindsay Gordon (Service No:SX29922) initially served in the ACMF (Sapper; Service No:S57619) with 18 Fortress Coy from 18 June 1942 to 17 June 1943. Posted to Darwin, NT on 5 January 1943, Sapper Gordon tranferred 'in the field' to the AIF and served with 42 Australian Works Section and 9 Australian Anti Aircraft and Fortress Coy RAE in Darwin until 18 June 1943. Sapper Gordon was Discharged on 28 November 1945.

Born in 1923 in Maitland South Australia, Bevin was eldest of three children of Clarence Stanley Gordon (b1897 in Ardrossan, South Australia) and Margary Kathleen Thomas (b1900 in Maitland, South Australia). Clarence (a Labourer) and Margary married in 1922 in Maitland, South Australia where they settled and raised their family and Clarence was a Labourer.

Bevin was an Apprentice Carpenter in Maitland when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, he married Maude (Biddy) Bridgette Watterson (b1920 in Roelands, WA) - Maude, a Nurse before her enlistment, served in WWII as a Lieutenant with the AANS. Bevin and Biddy settled in Maitland, South Australia where they raised their family. Bevin died in 2008 and Biddy in 2011.
