Corporal Gordon Mewett (Service No:SX29468) was a Private (Service No:S41026) in the ACMF in Katherine NT (NT Signals)  when he enlisted in the AIF on 1 April 1943. Corporal Mewett served in Katherine NT from 6 June 1942 to 11 September 1943. He was attached to 121 Australian General Hospital when he was Discharged on 14 February 1946.

Born in 1910 in Adelaide South Australia, Gordon was the only child of Rhoda (Rodge) Ann Mewett (b1874 in Wangolere, South Australia). By 1910 Rodge was living in Adelaide where she raised her son, and in 1941 married Samuel (Sam) Thomas Philipps (b1869 in Moonta, South Australia). Sam, a Widower, had worked as a Miner in Wandearah before settling in Adelaide.

Gordon worked as a  Grocer, Labourer and Taxi Driver and was in Adealide in 1934 when he married Eva Ida Selway (b1910 in Adelaide, South Australia). Although Gordon and Eva were Divorced in 1938, Gordon nominated Eva as his Wife on his Attestation Papers in 1942. Gordon died in 1978 in Adelaide and Eva in 1999 at Victor Harbour.
