Mr Spurling was awarded an RSL Life Membership in 1973.  He was elected as secretary in 1947,  in 1951 he was elected treasurer this position he held fro 22 years until 1973.  For 15 years during this period he was the bar manager.  Cliff attended other sub branch dinners in his group 25 area.  He was an active and unselfish worker for the Diggers Bowls and Golf Days event though he did not play.  Mr Spurling is also a member of the Ardrossan Lions Club and was serving as Vice President in 1973.
