Corporal Eleanor Murielle Kelly (Service No:SFX26216) initially served in the Australian Army Medical Women's Service (AAMWS) as a Private with the Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) from 7 April 1942 to 5 October 1942 when she transferred to the AIF - graded as Nursing Orderly. Corporal Kelly served with 105 and 109 Australian General Hospitals (AGH) and was Discharged on 21 August 1946. Sibling Nelson served in WWI (Service No:SX11934 and was a Japanese PoW in Java) and father Norman (Service No:3174) served in WWI.

Eleanor was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1922, daughter of Norman Gould Kelly (b1888 in Kapunda, South Australia) and Gwendoline Hocking (b1894 in Adelaide, South Australia). Norman was a Farmer/Grazier at Taree in South Australia when in 1919 he and Gwendoline married in Adelaide. They lived in Riverton, Teal Hill and Orroroo where Norman was a Farmer/Grazier until his death in 1925. Gwendoline moved to Adelaide where she raised her children.

Eleanor worked as a Tailoress in Adelaide before enlisting in WWII. In 1949 Eleanor married Huon Handsworth Roche (b1920 in Hobart, Tasmania) - Huon had served in WWII (Service No:QX46035) and worked in Brisbane as an Organising Secretary before enlisting in the AIF. Eleanor and Huon lived in Capalaba, Brisbane where Huon was a Timber Hauler before moving in the early 1960s to Bamaga on Thursday Island where Huon was a Public Servant. In the mid 1970s Eleanor and Huon returned to the mainland and settled in Redcliffe, Brisbane, QLD where Huon was a Salesman until his death in 1977. Eleanor died in 2000.
