Captain Kathleen Leslie (Service No:SFX24672) enlisted on 23 February 1942 with the Australian Army Nursing Service as a Sister (Service No:S38220) and transferred to the AIF on 7 October 1942. Captain Leslie discharged from the Australian Army Nursing Service on compassionate grounds on 22 October 1942.

Born in 1915 in Essendon Victoria, Kathleen was the eldest child of Leslie Cecil Leslie (b1889 at Mt Egerton, Victoria) and first wife Amy Havergill McCann (b1889 in Collingwood, Victoria). Leslie (an Engineer with Victorian Railways) and Amy married in 1913 in Melbourne, Victoria. Leslie served in WWI as a Lieutenant and returned to Melbourne where he and Amy settled and Leslie resumed working as an Engineer with Victorian Railways. Following Amy's death, Leslie remarried and the family settled in Adelaide, South Australia. 

Kathleen worked in South Australia as a Nurse at Wakefield Private Hospital and was in Sydney NSW in 1943 when she married Alastair Keith McKellar Stewart (b1920 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Alastair was serving in the RAAF. Kathleen and Leslie lived in Brisbane, QLD and Sydney NSW where Alastair was a Medical Practitioner. The couple divorced in 1969 and Alastair died in 1986. Kathleen died in 1991.
