Son of the late Gnr. Sydney William and Helen Elizabeth Brown, of One Tree Hill.  Harold resided at 299 Carrington Street, Adelaide, and was fond of sport and played football for the Simpson's team.  In civil life he worked at Wunderlich for three years and then went to A.M. Simpson and Sons for a year prior to being called up for duty.
