Sapper Colin Leo McComish (Service Nos:S15124/SX20716) enlisted in the ACMF on 16 December 1941 and served with 3 Field Coy and 5th Field Squadron RAE until 10 July 1942. Sapper McComish enlisted in the AIF at Puckapunyal on 11 July 1942, serving with 9 Australian Workshop and Park Coy in Borneo (Morotai) from 4 May 1945 to 23 December 1945. Sapper McComish was attached to 9 Australian Workshop and Park Coy at Discharge on 7 January 1946.

Colin was born in Kent Town, Adelaide, South Australia in 1920, second of four children of Donald Joseph McComish (b1892 in Fremantle Western Australia) and Haydee Emily Beck (b1900 in Snowtown, South Australia). Donald and Haydee married in 1918 in Adelaide, where they settled and raised their family and Donald worked as a Painter. Haydee died in 1931 and Donald in 1946.

Colin worked as a Painter and Metal Machinist in Adelaide where, in 1942 he married Doris Irene Baker (b1920 in Adelaide, SA) - Doris was a Milk and Cream Tester. Following his Discharge from the Army in 1946, Colin and Doris settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Colin worked as a Painter and Decorator. Colin died in 1994 and Doris in 2017.
