Son of Robert Stewart Varcoe and Madeline Isabella Rebecca Varcoe of Byng Street, Orange, NSW formerly of Hillston, NSW.

Brother of Bertram Varoce who returned to Australia on 6 August 1915 having served with the 6th Battalion and Victor Varcoe who returned to Australia on 3 October 1919 having served with the Australian Flying Corp
