3555 Private (Pte) Alfred Shanhun was a farmer from Western Australia.

Pte Shanhun embarked with the 16th Battalion, 11th Reinforcements, aboard HMAT Benalla (A24) on 1 November 1915.

On 31 August 1916 Pte Shanhun was reported wounded in action. No further details regarding his service were recorded following this date.

In 1917, following an inquiry he was confirmed as having been killed in action on 31 August 1916.

He is buried in the Norfolk Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France. Originally from Diamond Creek, Vic, Pte Shanhun was an Australian of Chinese descent.
