Biography

Private John Leo Martin, 2/24th AIF of Crystal Brook. Age 29, Son of Mr and Mrs Frederick F Martin of Main St Crystal Brook. Educated at Crystal Brook Public School. Was a member of Port Pirie Cycling Club, and won many trophies. In civil life he was employed by the BH Pty of Whyalla. Enlisted in 2nd AIF in July 1941. He had been on active service in the Middle East and wounded at battle of El Alamein. Returned to Australia in February 1943.
