Biography

Pte. John Joseph Flavel aged 19. Son of Mrs A E Flavel of Padthaway West. Educated at Merambro School with a very good record. Keen on football and lover of horses and dogs. In civil life worked at farm work at Robe. Enlisted at age of 18 in 2nd AIF in 1941. Left for overseas and returned to Australia in March 1942. Sent to New Guinea whre he was killed in action in December 1942. His two brothes also enlisted in the Forces.
