An Adelaide boy
Albert Jack (always just 'Jack') Skinner was born in Adelaide SA in Dec 1912, the sixth child of Alfred Henry and Jane Skinner, and grew up never far from his beginnings.
He enlisted in the AIF at the Wayville Barracks in June 1941, and after training was assigned to the 2/48th, and sailed for the Middle East in Sept 1941, seeing service there until returning to Aust in Feb 1943.
After some special training in Townsville, Jack was then part of the 2/48th's campaign, in an "Advance Party" role, in Milne Bay, Finschhafen, and Moratai, eventually being evacuated to Brisbane in Oct 1945 prior to his return to Adelaide and discharge.
Jack Skinner died at the Daws Road Repat Hospital of leukemia in 1963.
