Henry Ross Lehmann 1920-1993

Ross or Snow as he was Known to most was born and raised in Waikerie, leaving school at the age of 15 to work on the family's orchard.
A keen sportsman all his life, Snow Lehmann was a champion tennis player, footballer, athlete and bowler, and his may feats have been well chronicled over the years.
At the age of 16 he played A grade football for Waikerie in their 1936 premiership year continuing his football career with North Adelaide and in 1947 competed in the State side against Tasmania.
He was equally prominent where he was club singles champion at Waikerie for many years and he also competed successfully in athletics in his teenage days.
Snow joined the Army at the age of 21, after he became engaged to Dorothy Ward. He told Dot he was going to be transferred overseas to get her "to tie the Knot" but didn't go till 5 months later.
Serving with the 9th Division 2/4th Light A/A Regiment Snow saw four and a half years of active service and came home to continue raising his family and growing the biggest and best fruit on his block.
Snow and Dorothy Lehmann had five children Philip, Kym, Dian, Vivien and Rhett and both gained much pleasure and enjoyment from their children and grandchildren.
Snow Lehmann was a man who enjoyed life, a hard worker and a hard player, often last to leave the bowling club enjoying good times and the company of good friends.
He was also a community soirited man having been a life subscriber to the RSL and president for several years and a member and president (10 years of the Waikerie Club Inc.
Henry Ross Lehmann was a favourite son of the town and district and will be remembered for his contribution to sports and his love of the land and life.
