Biography

Lieut. L C Burman, 2/10th Inf Bat AIF of Prospect Hill via Meadows. Married Miss E M Vickery in 1937, had three sons. Was elder son of Mr and Mrs C P Burman of Wool Bay, YP. Educated at Haywood Park Yorke Peninsula and Norwood High School. He won a bursary at Haywood Park School. Followed all sport with interest especially fond of cricket. In civil life was a teacher at Morgan East, Brutus, Tenafete and Prospect Hills Schools. Was a member of Melville Masonic Lodge. Enlisted on April 15 1941 in 2/43rd and later transferred to 2/10th Batt. AIF. Was killed in action in New Guinea on January 21 1943. Aged 33. One brother and three brithers-in-law are in the AIF.
