Son of late Mr. George Albert and Mrs C VINALL of 'Maerle', High Street, Kapunda, SA.  Educated at Kapund Public School he was a good rifle shot and fond of horses, winning the Adelaide Buckjumping Championship in 1933 and Gold Medal in 1935.  In civilian life he worked as a butcher and motor driver.  Enlisting in March 1941 he left for overeseas in April 1941.
