Second son of Mr and Mrs W HYAM Snr., of Jervois, River Murray.  Educated at Port Pirie and Murray Bridge Public Schools he was very keen on horse sports and football. He played with the Jervois Association Team who were Premiers 11 years in succession.  Married, in civlian life he was contracting with the Waterworks Department for many years and also with the S.A.F. Union picking up milk for boats.  Enlisted July 1940.
