28 Mar 1943: | Imprisoned Shipped to Sandakan, Borneo, from Changi prison 28 March 1943 after the fall of Singapore, Leonard died on the infamous Sandakan/Ranua death march. Approx 2500 POWs perished thru exhaustion, malnutrition, disease and by the brutality by the Japanese officers and guards. | |

Son of Harry Warren Mumme and Muriel Clarissa Lois Mumme, of Toorak Gardens, South Australia.
Mr and Mrs. Harry W Mumme of Ormond Grove, Toorak Gardens, have been notified by the Military that their son, L/Cpl L. W. Mumme, died on March 2nd, 1945, while a Prisoner of War in Japanese hands.
