Mr. W. J. Hammond, of Taplan, has been informed that his only son, Cpl. Jack W.
Hammond died of illness on October 13, 1943 in a Malay an POW camp.
Cpl. Hammond enlisted in 1940, and sailed for Malaya in 1941.

HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR HUMANITY WE WILL REMEMBER HIM
Survived by his parents and sisters Ivy, Vera and Ella.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hammond, of Taplan, have been notified that their only son, Cpl. W. J. (Jack) Hammond, previously reported missing, is a prisoner of war in a Malayan camp.
