Clarence was married to Blanche Johanna Elizabeth WILLIAMS with two children and residing at 6 Short Street, Wayville when he enlisted in June 1940. He was educated at the Goodwood Central Public School and was fond of swimming. An upholsterer, he conducted his own business and also worked for Huxley in Hindley Street Adelaide. He trained at Wayville and left Australian in April 1941 and saw service in Palestine, Syria and Egypt.
