Son of Lionel Ledger and Rosetta Maude SMART of Clarendon. Educated at Clarendon Public School he was fond of all sport and played football, cricket and tennis. Married to Pearl Petrel Maria SMART, of Onkaparinga Stud Clarendon with two sons Peter and John, he was the manager of a Jersey Stud. Enlisting in July 1940 he left Australia in February 1941 and after service in Tobruk, died of wounds in Egypt on 13th July 1942.
