Raymond Claude Egel

Raymond Claude EGEL Private SX7706, 2nd Australian Infantry Forces (A.I.F). 8th Division, Salvage Unit.

Raymond (Ray) joined the armed forces during WW2 from 1939 to 1945. He served overseas and was taken prisoner by the Japanese.

Ray died in the Sandakan P.O.W. camp in Borneo on the 6th February 1945.

During his time of service he was awarded the following war medals
1939/45 Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal.

Ray is buried at the Mannum Cemetery along with his parents Herbert and Meta Egel
