Lieutenant William George Lamb (Service No:SX6773) enlisted in the AIF on 25 June 1940 as a Private attached to 9th Field Cash Office. Sergeant Lamb served in Suez and Alexandria (5 February 1941 - 28 February 1943) - promoted to Warrant Officer on 2 November 1942. Lieutenant Lamb was attached to District Accounts Office Victoria in March 1945, and was attached to 9th Field Cash Office at Termination of Appointment on 30 November 1945.

Bill was born in Moonta, South Australia in 1912, eldest of three children of Frederick (Joe) Joseph Lamb (b1887 at Port Augusta, South Australia) and Mabel Wearne (b1887 at Moonta Mines, South Australia). Joe and Mabel married in Moonta, and lived there and North Yelta, at Mile End and Dry Creek before settling in Adelaide. Joe worked as a Labourer and Brick Layer.

Bill was working as a Ledger Keeper in Cowandilla in 1934 when he married Stella May Sparkes (b1911 in Edwardstown, South Australia) in Adelaide. Bill and Stella were living in Cowandilla in 1940 when Bill enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge from the Army, Bill and Stella settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Bill worked as a Clerk until his death in 1964. Stella died in 2007.
