Retired Postmaster
Mr Charles Raymond Boreham, who died at his residence, Oleander Drive, Ashgrove last night, was known in the postal service from Thursday Island to Coolangatta. For six years also he was in the postal department of the South African Government, and when he left it he was postmaster at Bloemfontoin. He returned to Australia on the sailing ship lnverlyon serving nominally as a seaman. He served in the last war as a corporal in the 2nd Division Signallers, from 1915 until 1919. and after it resumed service in the Postal Department. His principal stations, besides those already mentioned, were Rockhampton, Longreach, Mitchell,Albion and Redcllffe. His services ranged from telegraphist to post master. He retired when post master at Rcdclitfe last year.
The late Mr. Boreham was born at Rockhampton 59 years ago and was educated at the Rockhampton State, and Grammar School, entering the Postal Department service there. As a young man he took an active part in outdoor sports at Rockampton, and wherever he was, he was regarded as a competent and courteous officer. Mrs Boreham survives her hus band, as also do two stepdaughters. Mrs W. S. Forrest (Gladstone), and Mrs Graeme S. Rich (Brisbane).
