Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Septimus Augustus Davis was the son of Herbert and Ann Davis. His parents both passed away during 1912 so he gave his next of kin as his brother, Andrew Davis of Leederville, Western Australia. Another brother 3043 Pte. George Patrick Davis 51st Battalion AIF, was killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 3 September 1916.

Septimus was killed when the 11th Battalion was pushing forward against the outpost villages in front of the Hindenburg line in April 1917. He has no known grave. He only joined the unit a liitle over three months before his death.

Another brother, 2807 Pte. Herbert William Davis 44th Battalion was badly wounded in the leg by shrapnel near Ypres during October 1917 and was sent home to Australia with a fractured leg a few months later.
