Son of Roger Arthur Thomas and Ruby Florence BATTYE, of Mount Gambier, SA. Educated at Mount Gambier, Eric was fond of tennis and in civilian life was a farmer of Glencoe West, SA. Enlisting in April 1940 he sailed for overseas in November 1940 and served in Egypt, Palestine and Syria.
