Son of Mr and Mrs J PUTSEY, of County Durham, England.  Married with three children, Arthur was residing at 100a Melbourne Street, North Adelaide.  Educated at Hepburn on Tyne, England he played soccer in England and also in Australia.  Played polo in India and was a member of the Durham Light Infantry in the Great War.  Joined the English Army at 17 years of age and served in France, 6 months in Russia and then transferred to India for 4 years.  Arthur came to Australia in 1923. He enlisted in the 2nd AIF in March 1940 and after 5 weeks in camp embarked for service overseas.
