Mr. George P. Furner, of Wallaroo, recently received two cards, dated April and May, 1945, from his son, Lt. C. P. Furner, who has been a POW in Japanese hands for nearly three years. Lt. Furner stated that he and those with him were well and looking forward to the day of reunion.
Mr. Geo. P. Furner, of Alexander street, Wallaroo, has received official intimation that his son, Lt. C. P. Furner, AIF, died on January 25 1945. while a POW in Japan. He was taken prisoner on the fall
of Singapore. Lt. Furner was 26, and was born at Wallaroo.
