Daughter of Frederick Carl HUPPATZ, "Marimba" Riverton, SA
Rosa completed her nursing training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1932 and was appointed a Charge Nurse in the same year - a position she held for 5 years prior to enlisting.
In 1939 she enlisted in the Army Nursing Service and on her return to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1946, was appointed Assistant Matron. Her next promotion was to Deputy Matron in 1954 – then Matron in 1955, until her retirement in 1966.
Two top awards of note were the Florence Nightingale Medal in 1963 (awarded by the International Order of the Red Cross), and the OBE for Services to Nursing in 1965.
