Son of John Charles Dawkins and Margaret Allen Dawkins nee Robertson of Punt Road, Prahran, Victoria formerly of Launceston, Tasmania.
On 29 March 1909 Sydney married Sarah May Venus in Patterson Street, Launceston, Tasmania but gave his marital state as a single man.
Commenced return to Australia on 17 June 1918 aboard HT Matatua disembarking on 15 August 1918.
