The details provided are taken from Google and from the book "Purple and Blue - the history of the 2nd/10th Infantry Battalion" (the Adelaide Rifles) 1st published 1958. Norman is mentioned in this book in the annexes where he is shown to have been awarded a MID (Mention in Dispatches) for his actions in service as a Corporal Signaller during the landing and battles of Balikpapan in 1945. He had served throughout the war against the Germans and Italians in 1940+1941, and then against the Japanese from 1942 - 1945. He was discharged from service 17th Dec 1945. He resumed his employment on the docks at Port Adelaide, became interested in politics and held the State Government seat of Sturt from July 1975 to Nov 1982. During the years after the cessation of WW2 he was an active member of the 10th Battalion Association and served on committees for many of the years until his "retirement". He served as President of the Association in the years 90+91, 94+95, 99+2000, and had been made a life member in 1992. He faithfully served his country and its army, state and his constituents, his family and his army association until his death 2006. REST IN PEACE. LEST WE FORGET.
