Thomas's story starts with his Father Cecil "Bert" Lovell Lock, who was born 1894 at Quorn. Bert joined the AIF (10th Battalion) in 1914. He served in Gallipoli & France & was repatriated to England in 1915 & 1917. Bert spent months receiving treatment in Bishop's Knoll Hospital in Bristol. It was in Bristol that he met Violet Irene Higgins and they married in the Parish Church, Clifton on 11 January 1917. Two children were born in England, Thomas and Wolseley, however Wolseley died at three months. The family returned to Australia on the H T Benalla, arriving in Adelaide on 20 May 1919.
Thomas himself enlisted for WW2 on 20th October 1939 & joined 2nd/10th Infantry Battalion.
