Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Mrs S and the late A GREEN of Norwood, SA.  Herbert was married with one child and resided at 116 Magill Road, Norwood.  Educated at Port Pirie West School he was keenly interested in football.  A miner in civil life, he worked at this trade in various mining places in South Australia and saw a great deal of the outback and travelled extensively.  Enlisting in August 1939 he left Australia in April 1940 and transferred to the Middle East campaign.
