Son of James Oliver and Elizabeth Jane Oliver nee Perry of Eudunda, SA. 

Husband of Vera Maude Oliver nee Deveney of  Halifax Street, Adelaide, SA. William and Vera married on 9 November 1915 in the St Luke Vestry, Adelaide, SA.

Commeced return to Australia on 19 June 1919 aboard HT Miltiades disembarking on 5 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide.
