Private John Edward Lafsky (Service No:QX1992) enlisted in the AIF in Townsville, QLD on 28 June 1940) with 18th Infantry Training Battalion. Private Lafsky served with 2/24 Infantry Battalion in Bombay, India and the Middle East, and was attached to 2/24 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 3 August 1945.

Jack (John Edward Joraslafsky) was born in Kooringa via Burra, South Australia in 1903, fourth of six children of Otto Joseph Joraslafsky (b1886 in Aldinga, South Australia) and Bridget Barrow (nee Nugent; b1886 in County Clare, Ireland). Otto (a Labourer) and Bridget (a Widow with three young daughters) married in 1888 in Kooringa, and settled in Burra via Kooringa where they raised their family and Otto was a Labourer. 

Jack was working in Winton, QLD as a Station Hand in 1940 when he enlsited in the Army. Following his Discharge, Jack lived in Brisbane, where he worked as a Labourer until the early 1950s, before settling in Cunnamulla where he worked as a Station Hand on Clover Downs Station until retirement in 1965, when he settled in Cunnamulla. Jack died in 1969.
