Served as Federal Secretary of RSL 1921. He died in early 1921 and was interred with full military honors in the Brighton Cemetery.  the funeral left ANZAC House at 3 o'clock in the afternoon the cortege being headed by the band of the 58th Battalion, the firing party being formed of Light HorseTrainees from the Broadmeadows Camp.  the coffin was drawn on a gun carriage supplied by the Roayal Australian Field Artillery, and was covered with the Union Jack surmounted by the Lighthorseman's hat and sword and a tiny sprayof leaves.  The funeral was one of the most impressive ever seen in Melbourne.

When he was invalided home he was committed to returned servicement and toojk up the post secretary of the Western Australian RSL Branch. He was appointed Federal secretary in 1920.
