Flying Officer John Cameron Lowe 402662 and Sergeant Clive Albert Ashford 3210 were killed when Wirraway A20-179 was shot down into the sea by Japanese Zero aircraft near Rabaul, New Guinea - they are commemorated on the Rabaul Memorial as their bodies were not recovered.
