SYDNEY AIRMAN DEAD
The Rev. G. P. Birk, rector of St. Peter's Church, Burwood, has been in-formed by the Department of Air that his son. Sergeant-Pilot Hilary E. Birk, R.A.A.F., was shot down by anti-air-craft fire over Benghazi in July of last year, and that his body was re-covered later from the sea, and buried in the Christian cemetery at Gluliana, Benghazi.

Sergeant-Pilot Birk, who was- 20 years of age, was educated at Trinity I Grammar School, Sydney, and was employed by the Colonial Sugar Refin-ing Company v/hen he enlisted soon after the outbreak of war. He was trained in Canada under the Empire Air Training Scheme._
